YOU HAVE ASTHMA. NOW WHAT?
Asthma can develop in a person at any age and when a diagnosis is made, whether for yourself or your child, there are certain questions you should ask your allergist to help you fully understand the condition. First, you’ll want to know what type of asthma you have since there are several different forms. Next, ask if the doctor has an idea of what may have triggered your asthma and if there are any changes you can make that will reduce your risk of having an attack. If you are prescribed an inhaler, be sure to ask for a demonstration on how to use it properly and find out if there are any companion medications that can improve your condition.
P.S. Once you or your child has been diagnosed with asthma, it is a good idea to keep a notebook to write down any questions you have before your follow-up appointment.
