WHEEZING IS A SIGN
Wheezing is usually associated with asthma, but it can also be a symptom of allergies. For those with allergies, reactions occur in the airways, restricting the flow of air and resulting in a high pitched “wheezing” sound, usually when exhaling. People experiencing even mild wheezing should seek medical care, especially if it is recurring or if they have no previous history of asthma or allergies. When wheezing is accompanied by trouble breathing, hives, or facial swelling, immediate emergency care should be sought. Otherwise, an allergist should be seen soon to diagnose the cause with tests that measure lung function, a check for narrowing of the airways, as well as imaging tests showing other lung issues.
P.S. Humidifiers, steamy showers, and consuming plenty of warm liquids like tea and broth can help open airways and ease wheezing.
