WHAT’S HAPPENING?
If you have experienced coughing, wheezing, and a tightness of the chest and were challenged by a shortness of breath, you may have had an asthma attack. Exposure to a wide variety of triggers such as cigarette smoke, dust mites, and pollen can cause an attack. Symptoms can be more severe if you have other chronic health conditions. Those who suspect that they have asthma should be tested by a doctor. Should it prove to be the case, an individualized treatment plan will be recommended. It’s advisable to follow the plan diligently and review it periodically with the doctor so that any necessary adjustments can be made to accommodate a worsening of symptoms or other changes in your general health.
P.S. Immediate medical attention should be sought by asthmatics who need to strain their chest muscles in order to breathe.
