UNEXPECTED ASTHMA TRIGGERS

While most asthma patients know the usual triggers for asthma symptoms, there are also some uncommon triggers they may want to be aware of. Research has shown that asthma cases in emergency rooms increase considerably after thunderstorms. This is likely due to electricity in the air causing grains to release pollen, which is then carried farther by strong storm winds. Extreme laughter or crying can also trigger attacks in the form of hyperventilation. Some food additives such as monosodium glutamate (MSG) or nitrates can increase symptoms, as does aspirin in about 20 percent of people with asthma . Acid reflux and GERD can cause a hyper-reaction in the airways resulting in an asthma attack as well.

P.S. Alcohol consumption can worsen asthma symptoms even for those who are not allergic to anything specific in the beverage.
