TOP INHALER USE MISTAKES

It’s not uncommon for people who use inhalers for asthma relief to misuse their inhalers by mistake or to simply become lazy about following rules for proper use. Follow these simple tips to ensure you are getting the most out of your inhaler-administered medication. Shake your inhaler before use. Breathe out completely and tip your chin back slightly, then inhale all the way as you administer the medication. Wait between puffs if taking more than one, and hold your breath for about ten seconds after taking a puff. Finally, know your inhaler type. Metered dose inhalers (MDIs) require you to breathe in slowly and steadily. Dry powder inhalers (DPIs) require you to breathe in quickly and deeply.

P.S. Two of the most common problems with inhaler use are simply remembering to take a reliever inhaler with you on-the-go and remembering to take a prevention inhaler at the same time each day.
