SIGNS AND CAUSES OF A LATEX ALLERGY
A latex allergy is a reaction to proteins found in latex, which is a naturally sourced product of the rubber tree. In some people, the body mistakes latex proteins for harmful substances and creates an immune response in the form of an allergic reaction. An allergic reaction to latex can range from mild to severe and may cause itching, rashes, hives, coughing, wheezing, sneezing, and even a potentially life-threatening attack of anaphylaxis, in which a person experiences extreme breathing difficulties. People with a latex allergy are usually very sensitive to latex products and may experience a reaction from touching a balloon or latex glove, and even from particles that are released into the air when someone removes latex gloves.
P.S. People who undergo multiple medical procedures are at increased risk for developing a latex allergy.
