NON-ALLERGIC ASTHMA

Non-allergic asthma, or intrinsic asthma, presents with symptoms similar to allergic asthma: coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness. However, non-allergic asthma does not involve an immune-system response in the way allergic asthma does. It is triggered by other factors such as stress, weather changes, exercise, indoor pollutants, food additives, or strong odors. There are a variety of treatments. If you exhibit any symptoms of asthma, it is crucial to see a medical professional immediately. The triggers can be challenging to identify, and an allergist will determine your triggers and how they play a role in your breathing problems. A plan can then be developed to help you better manage your condition. Quick relief and long-term medications are available.

P.S. Non-allergic asthma tends to start later in life, is more common in females, and is typically more severe.
