HOW INDOOR AIR POLLUTION AFFECTS ALLERGIES
Indoor air quality (IAQ) is the quality of the air inside and around buildings and structures and how it relates to the health and comfort of the people who use those spaces. Indoor pollutants that release gases, particles, and spores are the most common causes of poor indoor air quality, in addition to poor ventilation, which allows substances to linger. Many indoor pollutants cause allergies or symptoms that mimic allergies. A reaction to a pollutant may be short-term, like an allergy or asthma attack, while long-term effects include diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and respiratory problems, including chronic allergies and asthma. Controlling common indoor pollutants can help prevent allergy symptoms, asthma attacks, and other health issues.
P.S. Common indoor air pollutants that may cause allergy symptoms include mold and mildew, excess moisture, pet dander, dust mites, indoor use of tobacco products, and central heating and cooling systems, which circulate allergens throughout the indoors.
