FOOD-ASTHMA LINK

Food-dependent exercise-induced anaphylaxis (FDEIA) is a type of exercise-induced asthma (EIA), but unlike EIA, its triggering mechanism is not the exercise by itself. In order to have an anaphylactic reaction, exercise must take place within a few hours of eating a specific food. This food component varies with different individuals and different cultures. Among the foods that are often linked with FDEIA are shellfish, tomatoes, cheese, strawberries, milk, and wheat. Determining the exact food culprit is not always easy, because eating the food by itself will not provoke an anaphylactic reaction. People who are hypersensitive to any foods may want to consult an allergist to confirm suspected allergies with skin testing and avoid exercising after meals.

P.S. FDEIA is twice as common in females and usually affects individuals aged 25-35 who suffer from other allergic conditions.
