AVOIDING ASTHMA EXACERBATORS
Asthma happens because of a combination of genetic and environmental factors working together. However, asthma triggers are largely environmental. Common triggers of an asthma attack include inhaling common allergens (mold, dust mites, pollen, pet dander, and cockroach and rodent debris); environmental air irritants (air pollution, cigarette smoke, woodfires, dust, airborne chemicals, and strong fumes or vapors); and other health conditions ranging from sleep apnea to obesity and respiratory illnesses. Exercise and the weather can also play a role. The best way to avoid asthma triggers is to know what they are and try to limit your contact with them. Many asthma triggers are found outdoors, so wearing a mask with a filter while outside can help keep them at bay.
P.S. An air filtration system can help limit indoor asthma irritants. The best systems use high-efficiency particulate air filters.
