ALTERNATIVE ANTIHISTAMINES
Prescription and over-the-counter antihistamines are the go-to for most allergy sufferers as they can provide fast and effective relief. But for some, side-effects like drowsiness can be a deterrent. The good news is that studies have shown that some natural alternatives can be extremely effective without problematic side-effects. An antioxidant in apples and onions called quercetin has been proven in many studies to soothe allergy-related inflammations, and histamines and bromelain from pineapples can be particularly effective at dealing with hay fever symptoms such as nasal congestion and runny noses. Whether you’re taking these remedies, or stinging nettles or vitamin C, it is better to take them in capsule form even though they are found in foods.
P.S. For immediate relief of allergic skin reactions, a mix of aloe vera, calendula, and tea tree oil can provide natural relief.
