TIPS FOR HAY FEVER MANAGEMENT
Allergic rhinitis, commonly known as hay fever, causes cold-like symptoms such as congestion, runny nose, sneezing, itchy eyes, and sinus pressure. However, hay fever is caused by an allergic reaction to pollen rather than a virus. Hay fever can’t be cured, but you can take steps to minimize symptoms. When possible, staying indoors and keeping doors and windows closed is the most effective way to limit pollen exposure. When outdoors, try wearing sunglasses and putting petroleum jelly or lip balm around your nose to block and catch pollen. Shower and change clothing immediately after time spent outdoors. Dust and vacuum often, get a pollen filter for the air vents in your car, and clean filters on forced air furnaces monthly.
P.S. Pollen counts are highest when the weather is warm, humid, and windy.
