FLU SEASON IS COMING!

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is projecting a very active flu season this year.  Instead of the trivalent (three strain) vaccine of former years, all vaccines this year will be quadrivalent (four strain), more similar to the high-dose shots for people over the age of 65.  While the word “vaccine” has received a lot of negative press lately, it’s important to understand that the annual flu vaccine has a long history of being safe and effective for everyone over the age of six months.  Flu vaccines do not contain live influenza viruses and do not cause the flu. Note: asthmatics with already compromised airways are at risk for increased airway obstruction or pneumonia if infected with influenza.

P.S.   The CDC recommends use of any licensed, age-appropriate flu vaccine during the 2021-2022 flu season.
