ADULT-ONSET ASTHMA

Although it can arise at any age, people usually develop asthma during childhood. Adult-onset asthma, however, develops in adulthood. There are many possible factors that can cause adult-onset asthma, such as hormonal fluctuations in women, being overweight, and exposure to chemicals or irritants in the workplace. Symptoms can include coughing, difficulty breathing, wheezing, and shortness of breath. Treatment can be challenging to control because some asthma medications can be less effective later in life and can worsen certain medical conditions. Those who suspect they might have asthma should see an allergist right away in order to develop a plan of action. It’s possible to lead a normal life, but it’s crucial to follow all orders accurately.

P.S. Although smoking does not cause adult onset asthma, smoking or being exposed to second-hand smoke may provoke asthma symptoms.
