INDOOR ALLERGENS
Are your allergies worse indoors? Indoor allergens could be the cause. Many people suffer year-round from symptoms caused by indoor allergens. Common allergens include dust, mold, pollen, fabrics, dust mites, animal dander, and cockroaches. The key to managing allergies caused by indoor allergens involves reducing your level of exposure to them or avoiding them entirely, if possible. Antihistamines are a standard treatment. An allergist can conduct diagnostic testing to establish whether you are allergic, possibly using both skin and antibody testing. Several manufacturers now offer indoor allergen test kits that can be used to collect samples of air or other substances in the home that are then sent in for analysis to a professional laboratory.
P.S. Immunotherapy can sometimes help prevent or decrease the severity of allergic reactions.
