DO YOU NEED AN ALLERGY TEST?

Millions of people around the world suffer from allergies, but many have never seen a doctor or allergist for testing. This may mean that they are not being treated properly or as effectively as they could be. The most common forms of allergy tests are blood tests and scratch or skin prick tests. There are advantages to both. Scratch tests provide almost immediate results and are more sensitive than blood tests. They are also better at determining the severity of individual allergies. Blood tests can test for multiple allergens at one time, will not cause a reaction on the skin, and do not require the patient to stop taking any medications prior to testing.

P.S.  False positives are common with allergy testing, and experiencing a reaction to an allergen during a skin test (or having a blood test come back positive) does not always presuppose a poor reaction under normal circumstances.
