ALLERGIES CAN LEAD TO NASAL POLYPS
Nasal allergies come with a plethora of irritations including breathing problems, sore throats, and runny noses. When these irritations last for long periods of time, they can also cause nasal polyps. Nasal polyps are small, cyst-like growths that can block nasal passages and make breathing difficult. Polyps are soft and painless, and they usually grow in the area where eyes, nose, and cheekbones meet. Along with consistent congestion, polyps can cause postnasal drip, which can result in sore throats, snoring, sleep apnea. They can also affect the ability to smell. Nasal steroids such as fluticasone or mometasone can help deal with the symptoms, but surgery may be required to remove them when symptoms persist.
P.S. While nasal polyps can form without previous conditions, they are more likely to occur in people who have chronic sinus infections, asthma, hay fever, and other similar conditions.
