ALLERGY INDUCED SORE THROAT

Anyone who has ever had a sore throat knows that it can take over a person’s life, affecting sleep and the ability to work and eat normally. When a sore throat recurs frequently or lasts for days or weeks, even with treatment, it may be the result of allergies and not a cold or virus. In this case, it’s usually postnasal drip caused by airborne allergens like pollen that create a sore throat. Nasal congestion dripping down into the throat, especially when lying down, can cause coughing, irritation, and inflammation. Limiting exposure to these allergens is the best way to illuminate a sore throat, but when they can’t be avoided, antihistamines and decongestants can help alleviate the problem.

P.S.  Sore throat pain can be minimized by gargling with warm  saltwater and avoiding caffeine until medications kick in.
