ALLERGIC THRESHOLD

“Allergic threshold” is a term used to describe the level of sensitivity an allergic person has when exposed to a specific allergen.  A high allergic threshold indicates that the allergen can be tolerated in large amounts before causing an allergic reaction.  A low threshold, on the other hand, indicates a high level of sensitivity to an allergen.  Even small amounts of this allergen may be sufficient to trigger major allergic responses.  Allergic thresholds can change in different situations.  Frequent or prolonged exposure to an allergen may make the body more sensitive and quicker to react negatively.  An allergen that does not cause reactions in small amounts may suddenly become a problem when combined simultaneously with other known allergens.

P.S.   It is important to be aware of your personal allergic thresholds for various allergens so that you can create a safe and effective allergen avoidance plan.
