FOR THE LOVE OF A PET

Many people who adore their pets are also allergic to pet dander. Although the best method of allergy control is to get rid of the pet, many pet lovers would rather suffer allergic reactions than do that. If the pet remains in the home, there are some simple things to do to minimize exposure to pet dander. First of all, keep the pet out of the bedroom by having the bedroom door closed at all times. Be sure to wash hands thoroughly after any contact with the pet. Have a professional or another family member bathe and groom the pet. Be sure the pet is housebroken, because feces and urine residue in carpets can create additional allergy problems.

P.S. An allergist may be able to prescribe medications that will help control pet allergy symptoms and prevent them from getting worse.
