AVOIDING THE ISSUE

If you are experiencing headaches, have developed an itchy rash, feel irritable and fatigued, and sense that your digestive system is “off,” you may have a gluten allergy. This condition can cause extreme abdominal discomfort as well as muscular disturbances. Gluten is a protein that occurs in wheat, barley, and rye. Any food that contains one or more of those grains has gluten present in it. Although your symptoms may not guarantee that you have a gluten allergy, it would be worth following up with your allergist to be tested. If it is determined that you have a gluten allergy or intolerance, it is necessary to formulate an appropriate gluten-free diet plan.

P.S. Currently, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration does not require the disclosure of gluten on food labels.
