OUTSIDE THE BOX

As the spring allergy season approaches, people with allergies will be searching for relief from their symptoms.  Many allergy sufferers may try some form of alternative therapy to help control their annoying allergy symptoms.  Alternative therapies are not backed by recognized scientific evidence and fall outside today’s normally approved medical approaches.  Some experts, however, believe that alternative therapies such as acupuncture, yoga, herbal and vitamin supplements, and diet changes may be worth trying as long as they do not cause harm.  Alternative therapies may relieve some allergy symptoms, but should not be used in place of any doctor’s management plan.  Always talk to the doctor before experimenting with any alternative therapy, as some therapies may interfere with regular prescriptions.

P.S.   Be aware that some seemingly harmless approaches that are used for adults may be harmful to children.
